I am glad to see someone that got the set up and did obvious research before getting the leo.... Good job.....

There are plenty of breeders in the classifieds.... It is hard to recommend one because there are a few that are real reputable......

You have

HISSS
Golden Gate Geckos
Gekkonida
Jeremy Letkey
Pro Geckos
Robin S
Blazin
And a few others that I would recommend...

DEfinatly check out the classifieds and breeders section here, before finding the cutest little leo at a petstore i was considering buying one from goldengates or from alex hue reptiles. good luck and hope you find your perfect leo.

If you have an undertank heater you wont be needing the heat lamp. Get one from a reputable breeder instead of the classifieds or a petshop.

I am not disagreeing but to offer a different take on the situation...

A gecko from a reputable breeder (such as those listed by GreggMM) while an excellent choice is not always economically feasible. Many breeders are specializing in specific high end morphs etc. Geckos are selling for upwards of $1000. Of course some can be had for less ($150 - $200) range but that is a lot for a leo you want as a pet. I also don't think it is fair to automatically disqualify the classifieds. There are some very good small breeders out there without the name recognition of say Urban Gecko or H.I.S.S, who produce very healthy geckos which make great pets. They often list their animals in the classifieds. My wife's favorite animal of ours is a normal leo we got for $35 from our local reptile store. It is technically a pet shop, but they breed their own stock or sell those of local breeders. He is now 5 years old and is very healthy. While I wouldn't recommend one of the big chain stores getting one from a small breeder can be a very economical way to get a healthy pet quality leo.

Of course I do not mean to imply that the smaller, lesser known breeders are not "reputable." I merely mean they are not well known and therefore may not have a "reputation" like some of the breeders mentioned.

I am a small breeder just starting out. I have pastels, tangerines, hypos, super hypos, patternless, and an albino tangerine avaliable. I am currently having my website made but I can send pictures if you are interested. The prices are between $25 and $150 plus shipping.

Gregg named some great breeders...

Yes, the "available" geckos on their websites can range from $60-1500....BUT if your contact a breeder and inquire about a healthy, well-cared for leo for a pet, they can most often show you a few geckos that are much cheaper and just as healthy/happy/well-bred...they just aren't listed on the website.

This way you know you're getting a great pet and can avoid pet-shop horror stories!

Also...
I live in California right now and I use both overhead heat lamps AND UTH's for most of my display cages. My racks can be easily heated solely with flexwatt, but my "viewing" cages with glass need both....just a personal difference than what BlueLeo was stating.
