After reading several books about California Kingsnakes. Not to mention countless visits to Kingsnake.com probably 50 trips to the local pet store to make sure I had everything I needed. I finally got my new Kingsnake. I had to special order him because the pet stores around here don't normaly carry the banded desert phase and thats what I had my mind set on. When I got there to pick him up they had two to choose from. I picked him because he was a little fatter and seemed more interested in what was going on around him. I've had him for two weeks now and I've been enjoying every minute of it. He is a bit nippy when you first put your hand near him and he'll shake his little tail and strike but once you actually pick him up he calms right down and seems to like being held and will actualy wrap his tail around my fingers and act like he doesn't want to leave. I was also afraid of getting a fussy eater but he has no problems taking pinky mice. The first time I fed him he ate the pinky while it was still alive I was worried at first but it didn't seem to bother him. And once I fed him one that I think might have been a little too big for him but he didn't give up until he got it down and he hasn't had any ill effects from it that I've noticed. well anyways I just wanted to show everyone and say thanks for all of the usefull information I get on this board. Oh yeah his name is Bandit because he reminds me of the black and white prison outfits from the old movies.
