Getting JCPs on rats

I know this has been talked about before, but I didnt find anything in past threads. Any suggestions?

Depends (to an extent) on what they are feeding on. What I have done is give them what they want, then introduce the rat as the first prey item is going in (put the head in its mouth just before it finishes). From that point, I wait til the first prey item is taken and swallowed, then offer the rat. Frequently, once they are in feeding mode, they will just take the rat. Once you get them taking rats this way regularly, skip a few feedings, then offer the rat. It eventually works, if you are persistent - I finally got my one female to take rats off tongs this year...she's 11 yrs old.
