took some pics

They are not great. I find it hard to get good pics with all that light in the tank. I put sand in yesterday and he seems to be enjoying it. It is the same basic set up as with the newspaper so he has adjusted well.

He looks great, nice and chubby. Your cage looks very nice too. Glad to see he is better and thriving. I agree that sometimes pictures get washed out due to the lights. Keep up the good work with him.

Very nice set-up. He looks right at home in there. So now I have to ask. What kind of hide rock is that? And where did you find it?

The hide/basking site on the right is a plastic rock that I found at a pet store. From the first time he was introduced into the tank he went for that hide and not the log. From what I have read it is preferred that the Uro sleeps on the cooler end and I am hoping that he will make the switch. He does explore the log and now that I have it filled with sand he may start to feel secure in there as it is no longer wide open. I am just not sure if it is a good idea to have the hide/basking site combo. As long as he is happy with it I am leaving it the way it is. Here is the web site for the store. If you are not in NJ they can prob tell you the brand of the hide. www.adamspetsafari.com/index.html

I have one of those hides as well, and Archimedes loved it immediately as well. I also found it at a specialty pet shop. It certainly was not cheap (around $30 I think), but it holds heat well, if you are using it as a basking site/hide, and like I said, the Uros seems to really like it.
