Just an idle question...

Anyone ever used sponges in humid hides for their geckos? You know, the cheap kind from the dollar store..yellow...no soaps or detergents? Well washed before placing them in with the geckos and washed well every day or two? I was going to try it..as I'm running out of my previous stuff I used in their hides.. But figured I'd check here and see if its bad for them or not..I haven't heard of anyone doing it...

hmm never thought of that. I'm sure it would work. Alot of people have their humid hides double as lay boxes. In that case you need something they can bury the eggs in.

I'd personally rather use Vermiculite in my Humid hide.

Hmm just thought Sponge might also get caught on their little claws, or they could get a toe stuck in the material.

Just a thought see what other people think.

I've heard almost all sponges have soapy stuff in them, even cheap ones. I guess you could easily test that by wetting it ans seeing if it suds.

Sounds like they would become bacterial slag pools unless you want to wash them out thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap every or every other day. I use wads of wet paper towels since they are cheap, can't be eaten, and create a nice humidity level. They actually create a better humidity level than when I was using Forest Bed bedding.
