HORROR
becuase they told me they r easy to keep i asume they where right.
after research i find out i needed uvb/uva and calsium and vitamines.
also 2 died becuase of hookworms.
then after i got 2 new from the owner again 2 died
i whas messed up and i almost wanted to give up beardies.
becuase the panacure not workt for me the hookworms not got dead and every time it came back.
so after a yell inhere people told me to use parazap.
the owner send me a free sample and told me to give it 7 days on 7 days of 7 days on tea.
then after 3 weeks i dith a sample and then the vet not found any thing.
now i already 3/4 years clean and not one died becuase of worms any more.
so first it whas horror but later it whas better on the end.
am stil happy val newell send me the sample parazap r else i think i quited.

No. We have close friends who have had a beardie for 7 years now...my dd had to wait until she was 13 to get one--she had to wait 3 years!

why did you choose a BD?

My daughter loves reptiles and once she held a beardie she was hooked. (so was I)

We purchased our beardie from a dealer here on Kingsnake...my daughter (and I) had to research for a year before we could get the OK from "Dad" to get one.

was your first BD a good experience or a horror story?

He has been a GREAT experience...my daughter 'wears' him daily...they have definately bonded.

We love beardies so much that now we have 2--other daughter has one now (a rescue). "Dad" is not thrilled--but getting the second beardie was HIS idea--so I know that deep down he likes them too.

was your first BD bought on impulse? Nope. I actually bought all the supplies little by little until i had everything, researched like crazy, had it all set up properly and then bought one.

why did you choose a BD? I only had leopard geckos at the time, and i wanted something that would be easy to keep tame, and also something that got a little bigger. I fell in love with beardies

Got him from a pet store.

was your first BD a good experience or a horror story? I guess it would count as a horror story. The beardie i got when I had the setup correct, started to grow an abcess on his side after he was about 2 months old. So I took him in to the vet and they drained it. still wouldnt heal up or go away, so i took him in again, and they had to remove it completely and stitch it back up. But, the second day after he had it removed he stopped eating. and the next day, he died So, i was very bummed about it, but i decided i still wanted a beardie, so i got another one, at a different store. He is to this day doin great, he is about 4 and a half years old.

I had rescued two tortoises, a hingeback and a Russian, and was intrigued by reptiles. A guy who brings animals to school to show kids had a bearded and I loved the gentleness of the creature. I asked my husband for one for Christmas. Unfortunately, he bought it at a pet store and knew nothing about what to get. Brought home the wrong substrate, no lights, ...sigh. Also, little Zilla had had his tail bitten off.
He must have been the runt. It took him a very long time to grow. I read and studied and nursed and finally he took off! I think he's still little for his age, but he looks wonderful and acts great and is growing well now. They do require a lot of research...if you do it the right way!

was your first BD bought on impulse? Maybe a little....my brother had a roommate with one he thought was cool, so I bought him one and loved his so a year later, I bought one for me.

why did you choose a BD?
non-allergenic...lol! I have allergies and love animals. It seemed like a good choice. (Even though I still have 2 dogs and 4 horses and work for a vet.)

did you get your first BD from a

breeder? well I thought it was a reputable source, but to my dismay, they didn't even bother to tell me the crushed walnut bedding I was holding was not a good substrate.

was your first BD a good experience or a horror story?

unfortunately not good, I was told she could eat nothing but veggies and pellets. she didn't eat for a week and I learned on here juvi's really need lots of crickets! She also had hookworms. But...I've learned alot from poeple like you on here and have made them very rewarding pets.
