Getting to eat from a bowl/dish

howitser Aug 13, 2005 03:36 PM

Does anyone have a way to "teach" a beardie to eat from a bowl or dish? Mine will go for superworms or crickets, but won't hardly touch his greens in a dish. He seems to eat them if I hand feed him, but that's not the most practical approach. I've had limited success with some veggies in a dish, but more oft than not he just ends up climbing over them, and getting his substrate in them.

Any advice would be appreciated!

How old is your dragon? I had to hand feed mine too to get him to eat any greens. I know he's spoiled. He's 7 months old. I'm really hoping that as he gets older and bigger he'll get hungrier. By the way, I gave mine a mealworm tonight for the first time. I couldn't believe how he gobbled it! So far I'd only done crickets.

I'd love to hear the answers to your question. Actually, hand feeding him has supplied a bit of bonding time. LOL

found that adding a little water to the bowl helped my beardie start eating from his bowl.
