Just a couple of my 6 remaining gravid BRB's,

rainbowsrus Aug 13, 2005 05:32 PM

Two others were bathing, and the other two were in their hide boxes.

Can't wait till they drop....

Woohoo! =)
You must be checking them every second that you can. I can imagine someone getting pretty insane while waiting for the proverbial stork.
They look great. And ready.

So far 18 babies from one female, 6 more females to go and several are HUGE.

So how are your babies doing......growing like weeds? I bet you'd be surprised to see a newborn and see how much smaller they are. As I remember your's were several months old when you got them....some of my holdbacks.

Dave,
...Your year is going much better than mine, at least so far. I had two that did not seem to be gravid lay. One laid 2 live and 1 stillborn and one laid 2 slugs. I still have 8 BRBs that look and act gravid. I plan to leave here thursday going to the Daytona Expo. It will be embarrassing to not have much to sell. The two seemingly gravid Campina Grande Rainbows are doing well but are not due for another month or longer. I check cages several times each day. This time of year drives me crazy.
Good luck with your gravid ones.
Jeff

....are my babies still coming? I am still willing to trade some nice CATS. Just kidding....I hope all goes well for all of us. I did some re-figuring on my possibly gravid female and although she appears and acts gravid she hasn't done anything yet. The dates I previously thought were a whole month off. Any day now.......

Hey Linda, still waiting, have six still gestating, no bullseyes in the first litter, not surprising as the female is new and unrelated to my other breeders that have produced the bullseyes. Of the 6 remaining, four are HUGE, the other 2 are also quite large. All 6 showing classic gravid symptoms, not eating, getting fatter and thermo-regulating by assuming odd positions. Last year most were born in September. I started the warming cycle earlier this year and the babies should be here any day..........damn I hate the waiting. At least with my kids I had an actual due date.

Will keep you posted, thought I'd see some today as yesterday, three left small urates with a little brown stuff.

A few pics from the 18 baby litter this year:

I found them when I came home from vacation on the 6th, since the first few just shed today, I think they must have been born that same day...the 6th.

Linda,
....My whole life is a vacation. I work just enough that I still enjoy it and the rest of the time I do what I want. The biggest drawback to having a large collection of animals is that it is hard to be away for more than a few days at a time.

Oh yeah they were definitely not the smallest things. They are doing fantastically. Growing fast, getting thicker and more beautiful every shed. It's a great thing.
I noticed how small the babies were when I went to the Rep. show in Sacramento, they had little plastic dishes with so many tiny little BRBs in them.

Good luck, I'm sure those mamas will give you some fantastic little ones very soon.

They look so much fatter in person......like they're going to explode. The wait is killing me, hoping for another good crop of bullseyes like some from 2004:
