Jewel of my collection: Tri-color Hypo

Colubrid-aphilia Aug 13, 2005 07:08 PM

I just wanted to put a fresh pic of the girls up after seeing all the amazing pics recently posted. She's a Tri-Color Hypo Honduran with the narrow "pinbanded" stripes that are actually partially vanishing.

Next to her is a normal honduran (although het for hypo) to show the actual contrast. You just can't photograph a hypo and get the true colors to show. I find that a normal thrown in will give you the general idea, as evidenced by the pics.

It's hard to believe how clean she is untill you see her next to the normal! Even the red is reduced. As a hatchling her dark stripes were actually purple and not grey, but they are fading to a nice dull grey now that she is growing (darnit).

Anyhow, I just wanted to show her off, she's my pride and joy, even more so than the tangerine albinos I have.

Enjoy!

Here's a close shot of the two squirming next to each other:

I like the hypo hondos the most out of their morphs. To me its almost like a normal hondo thats glowing,I love the lavender-brown abnds that the juvis have. And seeing pics of adult "extreme" hypos with their fleshy-olive colored dark bands look amazing.I saw a coupel of Shannon Browns last year as babys and they are so much more intense looking in person. To me they are nicest looking of the morphs, but thats my opinion. Well again, very nice tri-color hypo.
Jeff

PS- pic is of a tri-color hypo het-anerythristic female. Her dark bands have gotten darker with age,but the orange is very clean on her.
