Well, I added to my collared family today--three fold. I went from three collareds to nine (plus a small snake). Ahh, those darned herp shows get me every time. No wonder I stopped attending them years ago . . . sigh.
Anyway, I found my beautiful bicintores boy that I had been looking for, and what I believe to be a baileyi male, too. The problem is, as I have mentioned in the past, is that I have a great deal of trouble leaving sick animals to die in the hands of people who don't care about them. Unfortunately, none of the collareds that I saw at that show were what I would call healthy. All were thin--some were very thin. Four of the lizards that I picked out are fairly vigorous and will probably fatten up with good husbandry and a bit of medication for parasites. The other two females, one of whom is gravid, are scary to look at. The gravid one has an infection in the skin over the top of her eye that is so bad she can barely open it. The people were kind enough to just give me the two sick female lizards so that they might have a chance, but it's going to be touch and go with at least one of them. They're all heading to the vet Monday. I have taken quite a few pictures (which I'll post later) so that when I succeed in getting them all nice and fat, I'll have good before and after shots to show off
Wish me luck--I'm gonna need it!
