The two names are used inter-changeably. In most cases incorrectly. All "Bloods" are short-tails, but not all short-tails are bloods. "Blood" pythons are Python brongersmai that are red in color. They come in yellow, brown and red. Other short-tailed pythons are Python curtus or "black" bloods or short-tails and Python breitensteini call "borneo" bloods or short-tails. P. breitensteini is only found on the island of Borneo and P. brongersmai and P. curtus are found primarily on Malaysia/Sumatra, but not on Borneo.

I, personally, would say no. Usually breeding different sub-species is never a good idea...but it does happen. But that's just my opinion.
