Feeding Question

Mydnite_Gypsy Aug 13, 2005 10:42 PM

I just fed Lava today, but I wasnt sure what to give her. Her previous owner told me fuzzys or hoppers, but I live in a town where no one has a pet store so I drive an hour away, and no one seemed to have anything larger than a pinky. I picked up four of them and fed them to her with no problem. My question is, Lave is 2-3 years old and about 2 feet long, she is in great health( I say she, but I'm really not sure what it is, other than a amel corn) what size should I be feeding her, and should I feed her again before the week is out? Thanks for listenging.

PS.
One more thing, I noticed the numbers in some of ya'll siganture (0.1.0) what exactly does that mean?

when i first got naaza i had the smae problem, he was eating pinkies, when it was time to move him up i moved him to fuzzie mice, the shop i was going to only sells fuzzies and pinks that was the only sizes they sold, so i moved him to pinkie rats, only problem i have had was i ordered hopper mice, naaza wont eat them he prefers rats.......degei i feed a rat pink, then the next feeding a hopper.... hope that helped

the numbers 2.9.11 rats means i have 2 males, 9 females, and 11 im not sure about yet(pinks)

Thank you so much. That does help. Lava acts like she is still searching for food. Should I feed her again this week?

As a general rule of thumb, the width of the food item should be about the same width as the widest part of the snake. If you cannot find a place that carries the right size food items, you may want to consider frozen/thawed food. It will save you a heck of a lot of trips to the store! Frozen mice come in a variety of sizes - in addition, the price is cheaper than pet store rodents. I use Rodent Pro - they're excellent.

just feed her something as wide as the widest part of her body
