Can Pines & Gopher's breed? They're both Pituophus. I found a couple of Mexican Pines @ a local herp shop both around the same size as Rocko, my 2' WC Gopher.

Most Pit people will tell you do not cross them, get yourself another Gopher. While it is possible you will find little interest in the offpsring and have a hard time selling them.

Thanx for the info. I'm not gonna attempt it. I wonder why there's not much interest in them. A question of temperment? Color?

Hybrids are far more accepted in other snakes....Kings Milks and Corns for example. However Pits are most likely more so in their pure forms within the hobby and many are trying to keep it that way. Hybrids of other types of snakes also tend to be more dramatic as far as color and pattern. With Pits it seems to take away from them. It is considered a waste of 2 good snakes when Pits are hybridized. If you want to breed your Gopher chances are one will show up at the pet shop cheaper than the Mexican Pines in there now. You said your Gopher is wild caught? Where do you live and did you catch it yourself??? Tom Stevens
