Dead baby in egg

book Aug 14, 2005 04:15 AM

I wonder if anybody can help me.
This is my second year of Ball Python breeding.
Last year, all eggs hatched. But this year, I had 3 eggs
which failed to hatch. On opening the eggs, I found
perfectly formed dead babies. I wonder if anyone can give
me any ideas about what the problem may be.
Thank you.

i haven't bred many animals, but i would say life happend. sometimes things can be unexplainable that way. Maybe they had a genetic code that didn't allow them to make it full term. If you're really concerned, a herp vet might be able to diagnose with an autopsy. It may or may not be preventable, hopefully it is. Did you have any viable eggs from the clutch or were those the only eggs laid? if you had some good eggs, i'd be less concerned.

good luck!
