Pre-shed pics

vichris Aug 14, 2005 11:25 AM

Here's a pic of the 1st 6 out of the eggs. Notice how milky the black is on the MSP. There is a ton of yellow in these guys thanks mostly to John Lassiters "Big Yeller" LOL
There is 1 more MSP in the 4 remaining eggs. I can't wait til they shed and start feeding.

Thanks a bunch John. I'm feeling alot better now AND I'm off my medication LOL.

mexicanamak Aug 14, 2005 12:20 PM

Congrats on that bunch! Can't wait to see the other 4... waiting to see you guys post your newly hatched is about as fun and exciting as watching these things hatch here at my place!

Ok now, let's see here..... I think that great looking peach/bright orange number on top with the nice air-brushed red head would be a keeper for me... course... that superb looking yellow job right next to it on the lsft is none too shabby either... k, that's keeper #2..... let's see here..... OH... that other yellow racer on the bottom in the rear has potential too, yeah... KEEPER #3... alright now, let's take a close look at the others...........

vichris Aug 14, 2005 02:26 PM

Oh yea. I wish I could keep them all but I can't. I'm only going to keep 1 or at the most 2 out of this clutch.

The rest of these are going to be made available. There are a few really good yellows in this bunch too. I'll post more pics next week after they shed.

Here's one more pic.

That big yellow male sure lays down the terrific leonis pattern, doesn't he! John sure is a lucky guy to have that male now... and you are a lucky man to have a shot of his seed there in that clutch! Great patterns and red heads. Can't wait to see the others.

John, you are in for a real treat when you get that big yellow male all fired up next year!

Thanks Mike...
I am lucky and I hope next years' efforts work well for me.
I wonder how many females he can handle....I have at least three potential mates for him. We'll see....
I got one more good egg that should hatch by the end of the month from him and the MSP produced by Vivid by way of David Weymouth.

Here is that Vivid female from David....

...is gonna rock your thayeri world over there! All you gotta do is let him have it... we already know he is a champion breeder. Can't wait to see what you do with him. Which females do you have in mind for him again?

Mike

jlassiter Aug 14, 2005 05:14 PM

Well...
After seeing what he has produced over at Wasatch reptiles with the two females I got in the trio deal I am keeping them in his breedings.
And...
Since my Olive leonis female is a real prolific breeder that has produced some awesome offspring in her own right she is also a candidate for him.
I have 3 other adult females that will breed to different males next year as well....And I got at least 4 other females that will be able to breed next year, but I am gonna breed them to the same aged male sibs and half sibs so I can see what those lines can produce when bred a second generation in my care...They are all from my Vivid line mostly with the exception of some other lines.....Next year should prove to be exciting. I hope all goes well with this new "technique" I am going to attempt next year...We shall see.

No question you will have some real winners on your hands! If little "Son-a-Yeller" over here does half as well as his father I will be one very happy 'ol fart, no doubt!

Thanks Paul,

I'm probably only going to keep 1 or if I'm lucky 2. I can't wait til they all shed so I can really see how good/bad/ugly the coloration is.
