That first one is especially nice. I'd love to see your thayeri when you get pics.

They look like Tigris to me too Chris, but they could possibly be speckled(one of my favs)due to the variability of these species. They, especially the speckled, are like the thayeri of rattlesnakes, but you already know that after living in AZ.
Nice pics FR of some kingsnake appetizers and I would like to see some pics of your thayeri also.
Happy Herping,

You are right Chris about tigers and specs. I have seen some orange looking specs in northeren AZ around Bagdad that almost looked like tigris. Usually they look a little too mottled though.

Hmmmmmmmm. there is no question, the pics I posted are tigers, also, the difference between species is not based on color. There are huge differences between tigers and specks, head shape, and oh my god, rattle shape, are only two obvious examples. Of course the old scale count differences always are a give away.

These two tigers were photographed only a very short distance apart, they do vary more then this, in the exact same spot.

Also, as I have mentioned, there are many species of snake that have a huge variation in color and pattern, as you should understand. Color and pattern are not taxonomic tools. good luck, FR
