anyone have a female eat when she is due to lay eggs, I have heard it does happen. My female that was due to lay eggs on thursday(day 26) or so I thought decided she was hungry yesterday when I was feeding another snake near her. sure enough she ate, so now I am wondering if I won't be getting eggs now. Just wondered

ps I am thinking I just might have some little snakes popping their heads out of the eggs when I get home from work tonight(today is day 56).

I have spent some time with a friend of mine who breeds balls big time, and he feeds them while they are prgnant, he normally only gives them rat pinks though, keeps it small in their belly, feeding normal size may be sketchy.

yes we've had them eat right before laying. The same type of situation, we have females that have lain next to females that are still gravid, and the majorities come out to see what's happening and go back into hide boxes however I've had some eat.

There are tells about Balls that if we watch them carefully we can learn many things about them, their behaviors and how it all associates with their welfare and reproduction. Take notes and make good records and you'll be amazed by all the things these incredible animals do.

thanks for the info.

ya I am better at telling when eggs are coming this year than last. my problem is I work alot of hours so I miss some of the big signs, like ovulation. so sometimes I am still just guessing and doing the count down after each shed.

she ate a rat pup and a medium rat, guess time will tell. if not this round maybe the next one I will get eggs cause she is looking nice and big.

I'll bet she surprises you - have you tried to palpitate her?

Good luck - I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!
