losing hope....

TBH Aug 14, 2005 07:56 PM

so it has been like a week or more and i have seen no trace of my timor, i have looked everywhere i can. my room, downstairs, everywhere in between.... nothing. i'm hoping he is just hiding really well or that he is in my mom or sister's rooms, but its such a mess i don't even wanna think of going through it (i'd rather wait till they see him). so i'm wondering, what's the longest or average time it takes you guys to find lost small mnitors. or do you guys think he may have found a way out of the house? whats the strangeast place you have found a lost pet? i'm currently in san diego so i guess it can't be that hard for him to keep warm.... if only i wasn't home for the summer...
thanks guys,
jake

I was missing a Timor for over a month. I found her in the extra vacume cleaner hose that was hanging up in the closet.

Another time, I lost a Mangrove. She was missing for 3 months. I went into a local petshop one day, and a guy brought her in(coincidentally). He had found her in his back yard.
It was the unique banded markings, and a small scar that she had on her knee that I identified her by. Not to mention the guy that found her lived only about 3 houses away.

Dont fret. She may turn up yet. Monitor lizards are survivuralists.

yea i wouldnt trip to bad on it, you will find her eventually just keep looking everywere you would think she would be, and then everywere you think she couldnt be, its the places you think they wouldnt be ale to get into that they usually turn up in, so dont lose hope until you smell a bad stink,

my young water got out 2 times on me when i first got him. both times he was in closet next to Chameleons cage. Good dark hides and food in closet. Id try tossen food in a closet and hope if its still in your house he might pick up the smell of the food and go in there. Good luck with finding your lil guy.

Hey
I remember my little water was lost for 3 weeks. I got home one day and there he was, sitting on an enclosure next to the heat lamp. I couldn't believe it, he will turn up. they can go for a long time without food.

I have a case just today....my 3 weeks BT....i looked everywhere but no sign so i left some food in every room, keeping an eye for that the cat doesnt find him before me...but i have a bad omen...if he did get out from the open window (least possible by the distance from nearest surface to window), how much a fall can they survive, lets say 9 floors?:-S Looked outside anyways and no sign of a body, nor blood nor any sign that he must have actually fallen...

wow, im sorry, i hope you find him also. i noticed that the screen is broken in a window he could very well have snuck out from, i also don't live here. i go to college about 10 hours away and fear that even if he is still around i may not find him in time. also, when he used to get out of his old cage it didnt take this long for me to find him, i should ahve at least noticed some evidence of him by now....
in case i don't find him in time (i hope i do though, no matter what anyone says about timors, i think they are effin awsome) do you guys have any other recomendations for a 100 gallon tank? i like ackies but i can't afford them (probably can't spend more than 150). any other cheapish dwarf monitor? if not i may just go with another timor... g-d i wish i had the space/money for a roughneck dumerils blackthroat or a water!
anyways, i'm rambling
thanks for you help guys, good luck blackwolf
