Hello

I think blood pythons are wonderful snakes so I always encourage new interest. I would go to the classified section and look at the adds for pricing, I would just be careful to make sure it is captive born and bred for your first one. Alot of people sell captive hatched ones That are farmed imports pretty cheap and you want to make sure your first impression is a good one.
Albinos seem to be gaining popularity and i know VPI is working with a couple of other morphs as well.
I would say average clutch size is 15 eggs give or take, and they do get bigger than Ball pythons. I would say 5 to 6 foot for a full sized adult was pretty typical but they will have about twice the girth of you bps.
Temperment I find typical to most snakes, some seem to tolerate or even enjoy handling and some do not, the breeder you deal with should be able to give you a pretty good idea about particular snakes.
I breed them as wellas carpet pythons, and I sure trust a blood over hatchling carpet any day.
sorry so long hope it helps
Chris

thanks it helps alot and i think ill buy one, as for the long posts i like them better because i feel a long post is much more informative.

i have a few more questions, what size cage do i need? which model cage from the vision cages would be good?

would it be easy to breed them to ball pythons? sorry if you dont agree with me but i believe hybrids are better and stronger, i dont have first hand expierience but i will someday.

Personally I like to give my critters plenty of space so my recommendation wouldn't be anything less than a Vision 422 for an adult. its the 48x28x18 one. If you get a male, you might get away with a little bit smaller though. I've heard of people successfully keeping them in large racks but its just my preference. As for breeding hybrids, I really couldn't tell you. I know there are lots of fertility issues and lots of people would frown on it. But I try to keep my opinions relatively neutral. Hope that helps and good luck!

I agree the bigger the cage for an adult the better, I find hatchlings do better in a smaller enclosure, they feel more secure, hide boxes are definitely a must with these snakes as they are shy especially as babies.

As far as the hybrid issue I know people have bred borneos to balls, Im not sure if they have proved to produce viable offspring or not. Definitely not my cup of tea, But Im not here to judge what anyone is doing.
