FREE shipping boxes...here's how!

gonexenopus Aug 15, 2005 10:48 AM

just to let everyone know, you can obtain FREE shipping boxes on thursdays from any Petco (NOT PetSmart). Usually in quantities of 5-15 depending on shipment size. these are big, styrofoam shipping boxes that are already in the cardboard boxes. most of the time they come with cool packs in summertime too. just let a petco manager know that you will be by on their fish shipment day (thursdays usually) to pick up all the boxes and they will gladly hand them over. otherwise they all get thrown away! these are nice BIG boxes too! i think the dimensions are around 18 inches square by a foot deep or so??? not too sure exactally. i hope this helps!

Petsmart will let you do it too. You just have to ask the Pet Care Manager. I did and they have been holding thier fish shipment boxes for me for 3 weeks. I have 10 of them now for free.

thats strange, because i am a pet care manager at petsmart and i have been instructed by my wholesalers NOT to give or throw away the shipping boxes because they get sent back to the fishery to be reused. i have to wrap all the boxes on a pallet and put them back on the next truck to be sent back. my store gets charged for missing boxes! which comes out of my bonus...grrr...which is a good reason not to give them away! LOL, maybe your pet care manager doesnt know this!
