Questions about getting a new crested

sportygurl3392 Aug 15, 2005 01:24 PM

i am planning to get a crested gecko from the next expo
i am planning to purchase the crested and all o the equipment i need from the expo on the same day
when i get home, i will temporarily house the crested in a small habitat (as if transporting), and then set up the terrerium
is this a good idea?

i am also wondering if it is necessary to house babies in a smaller tank then adults
this will be my only one, so tehre is no risk of compitition

this would be a big help if these could be answered.
thanx ahead of time

I would recommend having the cage all set up BEFORE the show. The discounts on supplies at shows (at least around here) usually aren't that great anyway. Animals are usually a good deal, but supplies usually arn't.

Housing a baby in a smaller cage allows it to feel more secure, and it allows the crested to more easily find it's food and water. You can probably get away with putting it in a larger enclosure (like one for an adult), as long as it's eating / drinking. Too big and it will be too stressed to come out in the open though.
