Hello, I'm Rien obviously and proudly hooked on leos. I have a little story to share with you all and some pictures as well so here we go!
The day before Christmas of 2004, i got my very first two leos from Petsmart. I barely knew anything about them (which i know, shoud have meant not to get them) but they were so cool! I took them home, got their tank all set up, and they were doing really well eating their crickets and everything. The little one I named Hinako and the bigger one Hazuki. After several days, i noticed they were now refusing to eat crickets, taking 1 or 2 at most on a good day. I surfed around on the internet for forums and found repticzone where i learned a lot and got lots of help which i'm sure i would have gotten here as well.
I had begun hand feeding my babies a mixture of chicken babyfood and pedialyte as well as Jumpstart and some repti-aid and occaisonally plain water. I also was giving them warm soaks every day. They were getting really skinny but still alive and not skeletal looking yet. I finally convinced my mom to let me take them to the vet along with a fecal sample and when they tested it, I got to look through the microscope as well to find they had parasites! So I got them on meds and they seemed to be improving! Still being given Jumpstart to stimulate appetite, they were eating again. Well, a death in my family came, the death of my big sister so I had to leave on very short notice and leave my babies behind! I left them with a trusted friend who had my vet's email and phonenumber as well as the email of a friend who has been raising leos for over 30 years. In texas (where the funeral was being held) i got a call from my friend saying she woke up to discover Hinako had died. She had appeared to be the healthiest, always spunky and watching out for her big sister (which included snuggling in their hide and stepping on Hazuki's head when she tried to get a drink once) When I got home, my friend told me her and her dad buried the baby in their backyard which was fine with me. And I took Hazuki home. I still have her now and she is doing ujst wonderful! And I want to show you some photos of Hazuki and Hinako from when I got them to how Hazuki looks now.
This is them the day I brought them home.
