"Mahogany" Florida Kings

foxturtle Aug 15, 2005 03:44 PM

I just picked these up Sunday morning from Mark Kenderdine (crimsonking). This line of Florida king was developed by another breeder from an odd looking kingsnake found (hit by a lawnmower) in Tampa, bred to other nice kings from Hillsborough county. The adults from this line look killer, though I'm told that they look their best before they're full sized. I'll post some more pics as these grow. Mark is the only guy I know of breeding these... Make sure and visit him at his table in Daytona this year, he'll have some great floridana, including some of the best hypo brooks I've seen.

Here's the male:

Love the head pattern...

And the female:

And for comparison, here's regular juvie king, might even be from around the same area:

And juvenile from the canefields:

Kinda plain in comparison, huh?

Hi Nick! How's it going?
Nice, very nice little ones you got there, Are you going to Daytona this year?
Do you still have that nice, partially speckled male eastern king? I still have this female pictured below. Putting those two together should make some killer babies next year. Remember we discussed it many months ago!?

Hey Zee!

Both of my Columbia county kings are doing good, though the male is a little thin. The female is real nice and heavy. Unfortunately they did not produce anything this year. We should try putting our animals together... I'll send you an email.

Cool beans, man! THANKS. I could also let you borrow the Columbia county male I have (if you're interested in a locality animal for your female for next spring)
