PA Press x2: Wesleyville Python`s Reign of Terror Ends

Aug 15, 2005 04:44 PM

WJET (Erie, Pennsylvania) 11 August 05 Wesleyville Python`s Reign of Terror Ends
Residents in a Wesleyville mobile home park are breathing a sigh of relief now that a 6 foot python, that’s been on the loose, has been captured.
But for some, it`s too late for their pet cats that likely fell victim to the snake’s powerful grip.
For the past several weeks, neighbors have been wondering where their cats have disappeared.
More than a dozen cats have turned up missing or dead, and now they blame the python.
Teresa Todd says her daughter came screaming in the house yesterday after she saw the python with a cat in its jaws.
Todd got the cat out of the snake’s jaws, and the python was captured, ending its reign of terror in Wesleyville.

WSEE (Erie, Pennsylvania) 11 August 05 Loose Snake Kills Neighborhood Cats
Neighbors in the Wesleyville Mobile Home Park captured a 6 foot snake when they found it attacking a neighborhood cat. The snake apparently belonged to another neighbor in the park who lost it two months ago, and didn't tell anyone. Neighbors say they have lost nearly 9 cats in that time span, and they fear for the children. Managers of the park plan to evict the owner of the snake. Exotic pets are not allowed in the mobile home park.

I was gonna say the same thing. Maybe they were little kittens? Maybe the neighborhood has a couple dogs that are killing them and the evil, terrible snake gets the blame?? The whole bit about some dead cats being found.....doesn't sound like a snake to me.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

Great another responsible owner screwing it up for everyone else.

I don't see anything strange about a 6 foot python eating a cat. My 6ft Blood Python eats Pigs and Rabbits that are at least the size of an average cat. I have also seen skinny little 6 foot Retics eating meals that seem impossible for them.

It does suck that the snakes owner was so irresponsible though...

Well, yea. I can see a 6 foot snake eating a small cat. But several? Like, daily? And leaving dead cats around? That's just....odd sounding.

I agree... A 6ft snake eating one cat, no problem. 9 cats? Maybe over a 9 month period...

Small cat. 6' python is not that large. Cat heads are not shaped for swallowing like a rodent. Rabbits and G.P.s are a bit harder than rodents, but a cat is hard.

I do. it's ridiculous. I can see maybe a 15 foot burmese eating small cats...but cats? And I'd doubt that a snake would chomp down on several cats. It'd take like...a week and a half just to digest.

I agree sounds like that sorty may not be accurate at all. How ever its printed and people who have no idea how much and how often a big pythons eats will believe it. I just wish people who can't properly care for a large pythons would buy a pet mouse instead. I find it less likely that they will outlaw mice
