Question on Mexican Milksnakes

Steve_Craig Aug 15, 2005 10:14 PM

If I'm looking to buy a hatchling Mexican Milk, and I want one with the tangerine/orange bands, can you tell by looking at a hatchling? Are the nice tangerine phase Mex. Milks born that way, or does the orange come in as they age? Thanks in advance.

Usually, if the first band is a yellowish color, that would be a good indicator that the snake will turn tangerine as an adult. The only way to tell how orange or tang it will turn is to see the adult breeders. I'm speaking purely from my own experience. Others might have had different outcomes.

Thanks Wayne. The 05 hatchling I will be getting does have a first band that is orangeish/tangerine. Also the adults of my 05 have pretty nice tangerine bands, so I'm guessing he'll develope some nice color down the road. Thanks for your comments.
