Crocodile teeth

mossdg Aug 16, 2005 01:43 AM

Hi
Could someone please help me answer the following question which I received.

Mammal teeth and crocodile teeth have a common factor – what is it?

Do crocodiles have homodonth or heterdonth teeth?

The similarity is (I believe) that both are attached to the socket via roots, not merely fused to the bone as in other reptiles.

Croc teeth are homodont--all merely conically shaped. Humans are heterodonts, with canines, molars, incisors, etc.
