Breeding maturity

BOASELECTER Aug 16, 2005 07:12 AM

Has anyone bread an 18 month old female bci and had good results - or tried and had bad results?

One of mine is about 5 foot and fairly broad - feeding her up for next season.

Dont want to damage her - I have heard some people do and some people wont.

I apologise for posting a similar message a while ago but just want as many opinions as possible.

cheers

sam

Some people have had sucess at breeding females that young, some breeders have done it and had wonderful litters, but the majority of people who try to breed young will get slugs, still borns and a mix of under developed stuff. Dont get me wrong its every breeders own personal choice, but all people believe that breeding young will shorten the life span of the animal. Steve and I always wait that extra year to breed for the health and life span of the animal. The choice is completely up to you though.

Sincerely,
Rose Hipskind
