Babies at a month old: update

sunfox Aug 16, 2005 08:03 AM

Had to separate Set from his siblings due to obvious aggression. Ramses and Horus are getting along great. All three are growing quickly and are active, running around, and defecating on a regular basis. Set is going through his first tail shed and it's coming off very easily (hasn't really affected his appetite too much). Set and Horus love getting human attention but Ramses is still very skittish around people.
That's it so far. I'm planning on selling them at the September Reptile Expo. I'd like to keep them around for longer but I just don't have the room to keep anymore uromastyx to adulthood.

I'm surprised to learn that it only took a month for Set to develope aggressive behaviors. I didn't know they set in that early. My two have never shown aggression, thank goodness. Glad to hear they're all doing well.

Doug Dix warns in his caresheets that early on a hatchling can become dominant and bully others. They all still want to be together but he's the one in charge. Luckily, it looks like Set will be quite friendly with humans thus making him a potentially good pet.
