Some of the mice variations that are popping up in my colony.

theanimalman Jul 17, 2003 10:32 AM

Ive been breeding mice on a significant scale for about the last 9 months. At first they were just the plain old white ones. Now i have decided to have a little fun producing the food for my snakes. I'm now playing around with some color variations.
The first pic is of my favorite male. He has a black back and a cream and white belly.
The third pic is of one of my females. She has a light brown coat and then some blotches of a darker brown.

I would love to see the pictures of your mice but all I'm getting is a little box with a red X in it. Why does this happen when at other times I can see pictures posted like in the thread after yours that explains how to post multiple pix?

he accidently put a comma at the end of the url he used. Right click on the red X, select properties. Look at the address listed. Smetimes you can figure out where the error is, like the comma at the end, remove the error, paste it into your address bar and go directly to the pic.

Or you could just wait for someone like me to find it and post it where you can see it.

Here is his pic:

I'm really stupid when it comes to computers, sorry. So it doesn't always have to be a comma that's been added, right? Like with the post on July 10 about a grave condition of someones rat. I tried it, and there was no comma on the end. So how is one supposed to know where the error is? Geeeze, that was even hard to explain. Hope it made sense.

It's not always a comma, it's not even always a problem with the URL. Could be an error was made in entering the URL, could be the wrong URL was given in which case you will never find the pic, or could be that the Site hosting the photo does not allow web sharing.

I think that is the case with the pic you just asked about. Go to the post, right click in the red X. Select Properties from the pop up menu. Then select the address that comes up in the little text box. Copy that address to your address bar and you will go to:

The pic

Hopefully I did that right, and explained it well enough for you to do it yourself next time. Also save this page:

Tools and toys

So you can refer back to it whenever you need to.

~~ You don't really think I know how to do all this stuff do you? I refer back to that "Tools and Toys" page for just about everything!

Before I got this message I almost wrote back to tell you I tried some of your suggestions but I couldn't get anything to do anything...like correct the error, or put the url in my address dealy. Nothing would work. I was also going to say I came across this one post that had a picture that worked and the very next post (by the same person) had a red X. I checked the url out and one was something like jpg.(3) and the other was jpg.(4). I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working till you sent this post. THANKS so much. I just hope that others don't mind that this is not a food dicussion... but it is certainly food for thought as far as trying to see the pictures posted on this forum.

Thanks again JM... I'll save your info and will try it out.

Hi Miss:

How are you? That pic you are referring to about a rat in a grave condition was posted by me. That rat has been enthanized. What I did was a home c-section. The rat had bled out of its birth canal and then stopped progressing in her labor. She remained non-progressing for about 48 hours before I decided to wack it and then open her up. Unfortunately none of the babies were alive. It was sad and in the other thread I had blamed nature for it.

Anyways, the picture that I posted was the picture of happier times. It is a pic of the mom feeding her previous litter. She had nine babies that litter. However, that was her last successful litter.

On a happier note, another rat of mine just gave birth to 13 or 14 babies (I am unclear on the exact number because I didn't want lose any babies due to stress, so I didn't count very well so as not to add stress).

cheers.
