My leo has a slim tail

herpsRkool Aug 16, 2005 03:48 PM

I have seen some of the pictures that people have posted and I'm worried that my leo doesn't have a fat enough tail. Should I be worrying? I am also wondering if he is a morph and what type he might be.

how old is it?

herpsRkool Aug 16, 2005 05:35 PM

I don't know how old it is(it didnt come across my mind to ask the ppl at the pet store). But it is 7 inches long and has all its spots. The cage said Leopard Gecko (JUV) but (JUV) was crossed out. My guess is a year or so.

do you have a scale to weigh it, or have you been to the vet lately and gotten it weighed?

manhattanherps Aug 17, 2005 02:26 AM

its probabaly a male, it looks no more than maybe 5-6 months old, the tail is at a normal-ish size it could stant to gain a bit more weight, but its fine, if it were sick the tail would look very drained like someone sqeezed out all the fat, just feed it mealworms with the occasional waxworm(1-3 a week) dusted in cal/vit also of course, good luck

Sorry, I frogot that my image wasnt able to be viewed. I was wondering is it ok that im feeding my leo crickets instead of mealworms? Will mealworms help him put on weight?

BlueLeo Aug 17, 2005 12:58 PM

Mealworms fat% is 12.72 and crickets is 6.01, everything else on them is pretty much close.
