I think most any wood would be ok...there are a few pine i think you have to watchout for ( toxic fumes or toxic if ingested i think) i believe cedar is one of them but i see that debated alot. i would say any hard wood would be ok if you are using it for deco or a branch to climb on you could aways treat and seal it too
