I believe that most "Miami phase" get a bit of tan as they age. I have seen many, many and more of them are a light tannish-grey or tan than they are grey. It would be pretty hard to pick a baby one as to remain grey as baby corns in general are greyish ground color and add the reds and browns as they mature, exceptions being the intense reds from Okeetees, etc. I have done a lot of collecting over the years in S. Dade co. and have only found one real classic Miami phase that was grey with no hint of red or tan in his pattern with bright orange blotches. He happended to be a very stubb tail animal, so I reluctantly left him under his board. To me another sign of the true Miamis is the large blotch count in which the blotches are transversley elongate.

ru talking about the rear half of the snake?
its normal for the front to be brighter and more colourful than the rear half. Iv got a ghost and the front half is a lovely pink but the rear a duller almost grey.
