yes, they are amazing animals. i was fortunate enough to be canoing down barton springs in austin tx when i happened across a huge common snapper. the base of his tail was as thick as my fore arm, and his shell was at least a foot and a half long. im sure that there are more impressive snappers out there, but he (or she!) was the largest that i have ever encounterd.
the best part about it was that she was idly paddling along next to us, without a care in the world!

I love canoeing and coming up on active snappers! They remind me of large sea turtles and they're so relaxed in the water! I've found Snappers in Mass., easily over 70 lbs. Thanx, Leo
