I always liked those, are they still going for $2000?

Is that a pyro or an AZ mtn. king?

The price on these guys has come down in recent years. Depending on the amount of black on them you looking at anywhere from $750.00-$1500.00. AND YES they are Lampropeltis pyromelana pyromelana (pyro) which ARE AZ. mtn kings.

Whew! I've never gotten a good look at one of those before. Mind boggling pattern!
(I confess I'm kind of a sucker for the normal black X pattern, but that's me )
Wondering about the genetics of the Applegate phase. Was it bred for gradually bit by bit, or is it something they're het for? Or something else entirely? Thanks.

The Applegate phase pyros are a true recessive trait that was proven by and named after Bob Applegate who spent over 8 yrs. to prove it as such. The animal we hatched was from an Applegate male bred to a Het/Applegate female.
