Any ideas as to what "morph" this ball python is...

dustinthompson Jul 17, 2003 11:11 AM

This is an adult male ball python. He has almost no black, but you cannot really tell that from the photo. I was just curious as to what morph this guy is. I would not call him normal, but I would like to get some ideas. He has a really nice burgundy or brick color where there is usually black. Either way, I like him, and that is what really matters. Thank you for your time and thoughts.

I DID NOT MEAN TO POST IT THREE TIMES...SORRY.

Normal. Balls are highly variable, and that snake falls into the class as normal.

It's a normal BP. Like Jeff said, BP are highly variable.

I have to BP that really look very different in color. But they are both normal.

If you want to see a true "burgundy" ball python, I recommend going to New England Reptile's website and looking at some of theirs - they have a wonderful page for ball morphs, with some discussion of genetics and lots of pics. It's a great resource for identifying morphs. www.newenglandreptile.com/BallPythonGallery.html

Other good resources are VPI
www.vpi.com/4VPIInventory/VPIPriceList/BallThumbsGallery(1Jan02).htm, and Ralph Davis www.ralphdavisreptiles.com/collection/pythons/ball/. All three of these are full of great pictures and info, if you're ever in need!

You have a beautiful BP; enjoy!
