Sorry but another question for Rollin

Do you think that peat moss would be a good substrate for my Argentina B.W. Tegu? I would use it for the intire cage and then have large basking branch for him/her, then I could have the vapor bulb sit on top of the cage and not hang in the setup. I am also going to have a 4' florescent shop light on top to add light to the cage. Do tegus have problems with mites or anyother type of parasite/bug etc.......... thanks for the input

Sure, peat moss with a little sand has worked well for me. It really holds a lot of water. If you use it in the hide box please check on it so it doesn't mold. My 100 watt zoomed flood is closer then I'd like and that's with a blackish tile under it that really heats up. So I don't know if that bulb would work well for your setup (maybe a spot type or 160 watt?). I've never really heard of a mite/bug problem with tegus. My tegus don't climb at all and I'm not sure if you plan on putting that branch far off the ground. It might be a good way to get your tegu to climb more though. That's about all I can think of to tell you.
