Guess who has a DVL Mutt, now!

Rick Aug 17, 2005 01:01 AM

I got her a few days ago. Now, what exactly IS a DVL Mutt anyways? I thought they were supposed to have been half South Mountain and half red back. Then I saw a recent post explaining that they were red back and Nevada(?) Regardless, she is a welcome addition to my horde of males. The question is, who should do the honors, (next year perhaps) the South Mountain or the Crater Mountain red back male?

Would it help to know which of her parents were which, genetically in order to work towards the red on red chuck? It's hard to tell which way she leans since she is just as plain looking as any female would be. I mean, if she had looked more redback I might go with the SM male, more red tailled, the Crater Mt red back male. David, what would you do?

I got the DI's that Brad had myself! I really am messed up with the batch of mutts you have. These were born in 2002 to the best of my knowledge & worn out memory. I got my RedTAIL male in 2001. In fact I just sent Tom the money & was typing a message to him on 9-11-01. I think even mentioned in that message that there was a news break about a plane hitting a building in NY. Kind of burns in the ol brain. In summer of 2001 I had a mix of Redbacks X Nevada ( always Nevada girls) & John Nicholson took most of them!!
Rick---- I swear I thought the ones you have were products of Redtail X Nevada but they look like redback mutts. I will always hold to the idea of " Retention of the Tadpoles"-- thus explaining the red back instead of redtail influence.
If I back down from this theory---- I will be admitting a loss of memory-- so thats my story & I'm sticking to it!

I still have a M/F combo from that year too--- plus a few from the sweet love of the REDTAIL male X (mutt Red???? x Nevada) female . Them Az fellas ain't too picky who they dance with!

Ahhhhh. The good ole days. David was mass producing mutt chucks at an alarming rate. I was convinced that he was building a Herp army to take on the cat population of Humble TX.

I still have both generations of DVL's mutts. Along with a Pete Weis western female from a million years ago. Also, BJ sent me 2 of Tom's chucks 2 or 3 years ago. A one eyed male red back and a red tail that for some reason refused to grow.

A motley group but I like them.

Is anyone else concerned that Eve hasn't posted here in weeks. I think she left us for the cool crowd over on the Uro forum.

here, just posted a few days ago, showing everyone a cute hatchling black agama down the page. Been busy around here with babies

YOUR the one who does not post, MUCH ..... lurking in the shadows only to show yoruself every few months or so.

But I'm GLAD whenever you show-up always NICE to see and hear from you. Need some pics of your motley crew !

I loved your post to David, so dang funny about the army of herps to fight the cats, LMAO (That was GREAT) I was falling outta my chair. hehhehe

I like kitties and have 2 pretty females, but I think people should keep em inside.

Ole One-eye girl of Davids will agree !

Now I'm just as confused as before. I guess I'll put her in with the redtail male and his 2 juvinille protegees. There a year old so they won't be any competition for her attention. Then I'll have to get a redtail female for the redback male. (Anyone have a female to trade for a male juvie?) I haven't had any luck finding females this year. Maybe I'll have better luck next week.

Based on pictures provided by other DVL mutt fanatics Im gonna say there is definitely some redBACK in there. For some reason I thought it was redback female/redtail male but sounds more likely shes gonna be a redback/nevada.

Hows she doing anyway? I kinda miss her a little.

Well she's really going to produce some serious mutts, then. I'll try to pair her with a redtail male next year. Then the kids will be/Redback/Nevada/Redtail mutts, R 'n R mutts maybe?

She is still adjusting to me. I get a glimse of her occasionally but she still isn't comfortable enough to run out to scarf veggies with everyone else yet.
