Tegu sneezing

vince3267 Aug 17, 2005 07:55 AM

I have 2 1 year olds and i got them about 2 months ago, they have been growing like crazy, but lately i dont know if there starting to feel the up coming season change but they are not eating like they normally do and i noticed the female sneezes some times. espcially when she goes in for a drink and brings her head up out of the water. They look very healthy but are a little skidish and i have them in a high traffic area. They seem find with it, but like to stay burried alot. i'm using cyprees mulch misted every 2 days. I have a heat lamp with a 200 watt on top of there 55 gal tank and also a uv stripe. and a heating pad under the tank which heat up the substare nicly.(I'm in the middle of building a massive tank). I know that im loosing alot of heat through the top of the tank, but are these signs of a respitory infection? she was walking around the house yesterday and i notice3d she is still sneezing. Please help, thank you

Is the breathing raspy? Tegus do occasionally sneeze after drinking of they get a drop of water in their nostril. If it's often it could be an issue, but if it's once in awhile it's probably fine.

I'd mist the substrate daily, it helps humidity and keeps dust down. Mist is a little, but not so the substrate is dripping wet.

I dont really think i mist it enough. i'm willing to try that, but concerned if its some kind of cold and may create more issues. I take her out for an hour and notice she will still sneeze, but i dont believe its as much. Sky seems healthy she moves around alot and tries to jump out and escape. Ok so maybe it is dust how seious can this get? Thanks, i'll try misting it twice a day and see if it helps out the dust. Or maybe remove the substrate and use some reptile carpet for 2 days. Let me know if you think its anything else.
