First off lets just say I have city water and it sucks

My female is having some shedding issues, so I wet down a towel and put in the tanks to give a little more humidity, but after they layed on it and everything it left a residue which I believe to either be calcium or possible lyme (i think that how its spelled) it was white. i removed the towell immediately but will this harm them
