I'm seeing all of these pictures of great-looking hatchlings, but very few adverts in the classifieds... Do most of you wholesale your clutches, or sell quickly via websites such that you don't need to advertise? Is there a place anywhere that lists thayeri breeders, or do you all just trade back and forth amongst yourselves?!? LOL!
Seriously - I see much nicer hatchlings here than in most ads/shows. Would love to know how to get my hands on some. Please feel free to email me off list (leemcmurtry@yahoo.com) if you would prefer, but I suspect that there are more people like me out here looking for nice animals - it might be nice to have breeder's websites/e-mails in one location. Thanks again.

Lee,
From my observations, this particular forum is about sharing our Thayeri and information about them, not about sells. So, you don’t see a lot of web site pushing. If you watch the names, you can find their web sites or contact them off line about sells.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I do not do any advertisements until the babies are eating well. When I put ads on KS last year, most of the nice ones sold quickly so the ads were not up long. Some of the breeders here are very well known and have waiting lists. Many of my sells come from word of mouth or people looking at my web site and asking about availability (my web site is way out of date now).

I do one or two shows a year in So CAL but most of the people at the shows do not really appreciate a beautiful Thayeri. They want cheep stuff to take home and watch die or something that gets huge so they can let it go in the neighborhood or give it to the animal shelter in three years when they have to feed it bunnies (forgive my sinicism). At the end of the day (my patience), some finally go to the pet store. I imagine there are many off line trades as well, I will be looking to trade one this year myself.

On your Lizard Maker question, I haven’t tried it yet. I’m sure some of the lizards in my backyard would rather I did use it if it worked though.

By the way, Welcome

I have plenty of killer theyeri for sale that are eating like pigs. I'm enjoying them so much I've only sold one pair I guess I'm just not in a rush and I need to setup another Kingsnake classified account. After the Daytona show this weekend, I'll get serious

Lee,
Mine are usually sold before they hatch, but not always...The left overs I sell at a couple of snake expos I attend here in Texas.
The other snakes I breed are sometimes reserved as well, but the others get sold on the classifieds and at the shows as well.
Usually all the real nice ones are reserved by someone...that is why you hardly see outstanding thayeri on the classifieds or at shows....
This year I had to cancel alot of orders do to some infertile clutches. These customers got put on next year's list and the few I hatched this year are going to the shows with me...Some are real nice too...not the average show thayeri in my opinion.

You can email me or anyone else through the kingsnake link atop the
individual posts....Everyone here is on the up and up and would be glad to help you out and do business with you.

And as Russ pointed out....It sometimes takes a while to get them ready to sale that is why ours are not up for sale just yet....I like to get 5 meals in them and get them on frozen/thawed pinks before they go to a potential buyer. Some will be ready for a show I am doing at the end of the month in Austin, TX....
Good luck finding some nice ones Lee,
John Lassiter
