Nancy is so beautiful! No pyramiding, a perfect looking shell.
She's a lucky girl.
I wish they could talk because I want to know what happened to our Destiny before she was found.
She's so disfigured & was so pathetic when she first got here. I am still as angry today as I was 3 years ago at someone which is frustrating because I will never find out who mistreated her.
I have to put that anger away & concentrate on how sweet she is.
I wish she looked as good as Nancy but that'll never happen...

post a picture of Destiny? I may be able to give you a little insight as to her history. I would like to see her.
Thanx, Leo
Skin & Scales
I pasted a few photos of her on this site, scroll down & you'll see a thread titled Destiny but I don't have all her online photos in that link. Ya know it might be easier to just look at my photo album link because it's catagorized & she's in her own folder. lol
Here ya go:

I can tell you the history that I know. She was brought to a local pet store by a rancher who's grandchildren had found her. They witnessed teenagers shooting her with a gun. They grabbed her up & took her to grandfather's house. He thought she was a large aquatic turtle so he put her in a rusty wheelbarrow with water in it for a day or 2. The pet store people told him she's not a turtle, but they didn't know what she was either so he left her there.
I personally knew the manager who worked there at the time. She had someone call me & asked if I could keep her for a few days until a home could be found. I knew what she was the moment I saw her, I knew what to do so we never looked for another home, she's been here ever since.
We live at the far northern portion of the Mexican Chihuahuan desert. Sulcatas are sold in Lubbock TX, which is 110 miles or so away. My guess is that someone bought her as a hatchling from a pet store there then dumped her when she got too big.
That is all I know about her other than she was so horribly pyramided & sick at first that her little head would wobble so much when she walked I wondered how she could see clearly.
I know MBD weakens muscle too so I chalked that wobbling up to her MBD problem.
As she's grown her pyramids have flattened, her head stopped wobbling after about 6 months here & today her skin is so beautiful, it's almost as yellow as our yellow mud turtle's skin. btw those pyramids saved her life, the bullets went right through the pyramids without hitting anything vital inside her.
What did she eat to make her pyramid so horribly? Where was she kept & was she kept without access to water? Those are things I wonder. I wonder who the idiot was that would just dump her in the country like that? How long was she out there alone?
It makes me so mad but we named her Destiny because we felt like it was fate that brought her to us.
Anything you want to guess at with her would be totally welcomed.
