feeding baby Scarlet Kings

plindsey Aug 17, 2005 10:44 PM

Does anyone have any useful tips on feeding a clutch of baby Scarlet Kings? (starting a breeding colony of Ground Skinks as feeders isn't real useful). I have 5 new babies and I am searching for some way to rear them. Any help or ideas are welcome.

Thanks
Peter

of course you always wanna try unscented tiny pinkies first...but even those are probably too big for hatchling scarlet kings.my next step is trying tease feeding with tongs/hemostats/forceps(your finger scents are too strong)with a mouse part-tail/thigh....if that fails, the next step=scented mouse parts(only need one or a few lizards for scentingnot only ground skinks, but for scenting,5 lineds and even anoles will work...also have had luck with house geckos....fence lizards work too(so i'm told)....last resort or if you just wanna get a meal, any meal,in them, the ground skink is the best-long,skinny(great shaped decent sized meal= easiest to get down, and stay down)...oh yeah, most important ingredient is,by far, patience, lots of it.......good luck
