Ok Its a 10 gallon tank. There is a heat pad that takes up 1/3 the tank. Thats around 92. The theres a hide on each side and the ambient temps are around 80. The humidity is around 65. Is all this good. I use carpet as bedding because its easy for me. Also My closet is about 4'x15". Can I use this as an adult cage as loing as I heat it right?

thanks again

If it's a hatchling/juvenile, sounds great. Those temps are good too. As for the closet, if you can heat it, go for it. You didn't mention how deep it was but remember that roomier is always better. Great job, keep it up.

I think a closet is a bad idea. One, you can't properly regulate the heat, and two you cannot properly regulate humidity. Spend the money and get a cage, you both will be better off. Good luck, Eric-

It would probably be better to just use a rubbermaid container instead of a tank. You can keep temps and humidity more constant in a rubbermaid . Might want to up the temp a few degrees too 80 can be a little cold for a blood and you dont want a respritory infection. Also what are you using to monitor the temps and humidity. If you dont have good devices there not going to give you a accurate read anyways. Disposable bedding ie paper towels, bark is usually alot easier to clean and spot things that need to be cleaned. I would also say the closet is a terrible idea not only is it too big, you cant regulate temps or humidity well at all, just buy a cage or make one.

Yes I have a humidity gauge and digital thermometer......The closet is 82 all together. So his ambients are 82. Plus his heat pad in his tank is 90 so thats good. But I will eventually make the whole closet his cage when hes full grown. The closet is 4'x15" so Im going to get a big heat pad to take about 1/3 of it up and trhen a flood light at the very top where he cant reach to give some higher temps.....Im not a newbie on snakes Ive had burms and balls before Just never a blood
thanks a lot
Mike

Putting the tank in the closet is a little easier as long as you have proper ventilation. (Not shutting it up in the closet with the doors closed) As an adult blood, to set it up in the closet would require quite a bit of fabrication as I'm sure you know. But for everyone else, it's not that bad an idea if he has a way to keep the heat and humidity right. It would be just like using an entire room for an enclosure (which I know has worked for many) except smaller. Mike the only issue I can think of is ventilation. So depending on what your idea is for the door to the closet, you'll have to factor that in. Dead air, warm temps, and high humidity can also grow great mold. And if you're going to do this, it seems that you should also at least build some sort of platform at about waist level to be his bottom "floor". That would be easier for maintenance and less chance of you getting nailed in the face kneeling down to change his water. Other than that, it sounds like a fun project and definitely a feasible one to me. Good luck.
