Those last few pictures are really great. You lucked out on timing it looks like!

I too am expecting a very late season, my only clutch should be layed in two weeks. Hoping for good luck for everyone this season!

Best of luck to you Ross! Keep us updated!

A Markus Jayne pastel. Beauty!! Good luck with him Jeff. My guess, 6 eggs; 5 pastels, 1 norm. Is that your 'Monster eater' male?

Jeff Favelle Jul 18, 2003 03:20 AM

5 Pastels would be insane!! 1st clutch is due to hatch in 2 weeks and it was 6 eggs as well, so hopefully we'll get 5 Pastels from that too! HA ha. Fully jinxed myself. Watch them all be normals.

Cheers! :D

Thanks all. 6 more eggs from him! And hopefully 3 more clutches to come!!

Wish I bought a Spider now, LOL!

Thats a super nice pastel Jeff, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't all the lines the same? (ballpython.com, Graziani, McCurley) I thought they were all compatible. I mean if you breed a Graziani to a McCurley do you not still get supers? or do you get double visable het for both lines? and sometimes in the same animal leading one to believe it is a super? but its not? Great job on getting the little guy to breed when he was eight months by the way! thats amazing.

But some just look different. And at this stage of the game, a lot of the Pastels can be traced back to the original breeder. But eventually there will just be Pastels. Probably this year or next.

But I still think they'll be graded (like Pieds). I'm not gonna pay a grand US for a snake that's going to turn brown, even if it is a true pastel.

Cheers.

Jeff, I have seen some adults where the orange has really browned out, yours still has great colors. Can you tell when they are young wether they will turn or not?

Jeff Favelle Jul 18, 2003 10:23 AM

I can't tell. Probably some people who have gone through hundreds of babies could though. I would just do with the baby that's the most lemon yellow, and the least orange. I think that's a safe bet. And of course, always look at the parents, right?
