Hello,

I'm hoping someone with wood-working experience can help me out here. We're having out 50 year old wood floors being refinished today and I don't want to place my boaphile stack directly on them. I had 1" slabs of styrofoam raising them above the wood floors originally, but after moving them for the refinishers I realized I needed to do it differently.

A lot of crap had migrated inbetween the styrofoam, not to mention it also wasn't very attractive.

So I was thinking of making a pedestal of sorts out of wood. Something only a few inches high, with some kind of lip that the cages can "sit in" so they wont get knocked off of it easily.

I was going to make it out of pine and use wax as a finish to match my furniture. So I'm thinking I'll get some 2x6's and nail them together to make a simple "box" and then nail a small pieces around that to creat the lip (maybe a simple crown molding type piece).

But what about the inside? I was thinking of stacking up that foam board stuff from home depot to insulate the heat. Or should I just have a fitted piece of plywood instead? I am by no means experienced *at all* with constructing things, so if anybody can give me some pointers with the design I'd really appreciate it
