Hello,
Just thought I'd put a shot of this clutch up before they all come out and flatten the eggs. This is by far my largest clutch of easterns to date, 23 eggs. About half of them are out and 4 are clones of their dad, Frank the Tank. These 4 possess extremely wide bands that blend into lateral striping and a fading belly pattern, going from snout to vent. One appears to be a bullseye as well.
Just a quick re-cap regarding the lineage of these animals - these are descended from wild founders collected by Kevin Enge in Tift and Echols Counties in GA. While the wild founders and F1s looked like regular colorful GA easterns, the F2s and F3s have really gone off off the charts as far as orange coloring and band width. While most of us eastern connisieurs presume that a goini got into the mix in the generations prior to captivity, these babies never develop any speckling as they grow and some have band widths that rival the boldest goini. Thanks for looking!
Will
