cut the eggs open before the hatchlings are ready to come out? shouldnt they be ripping it up themselves? i cant imagine cutting a big hole or even half the entire egg off is right. they take their time hatching to feel safe right? so what purpose could rushing the process serve

there are eggs in the clutch that haven't pipped and the hatchlings haven't come out after all the others have. We found out the hard way while in Daytona last year that you can lose some if you don't assist some. These may be slightly weaker animals that wouldn't have survived otherwise but made it because of the assist.

Many people also cut them when they are waiting for something unique to hatch and they just can't wait anymore. Most people wait until day 55 which is typically a week early, however this year we've seen clutches go up to 70 days before pipping. This could be another reason to cut.

people are stupid?

all I can think of...

well.they are in a hurry and another day or two can't wait even though they have waited at least a year to 10 years for the project to be at this stage...

?....right......

I cut some eggs yesterday..they were at day 59.......I cut them open with a slit and put them into delicups in the incubator....they are more or less still closed because the edges are still together ...I don't rip big holes or cut off egg tops...yes..lots of people do........wierd huh?.....

I know if I was sleeping in a hospital and wasn't ready to be released and someone ripped the covers off me and didn't give them back I would be mad,(scared if the nurse was ugly)

Because if you cut them .They have an easier time coming into the world.
Also this is the point. To make offspring. Not to experiment with egg hatching techniques.
So if new snakes are your goal it is only logical to cut them.
If hatching eggs are only to track the vigor of the offspring then cutting is obviously not used .

I never had a ball NOT be able to come out.....

I HAVE had fruit flies get into a cut egg even at day 60 after the ball cut the egg.,,

so...you want to see early or you want maggots to eat your baby?

bacterias can infiltrate the fluids....(.yes they are capable of resisting germs and all..but what if there is a problem........)..........if fluids dry up they can die or almost die with bad shed.....etc etc etc......

cut at right time they will all be fine.....

........if baby is that weak that it cannot get out of egg..........baby will be crappy anyways.......

Hmmm, I raise dart frogs and balls, have fruit flies all over and cant say I have ever had fruit flies get into my ball eggs... then again I am more careful than I guess... one might cover the egg container with a sealing lid. Perhaps a lid with a seal will help keep all the air borne junk out of your eggs too. Can’t say I have had any of the problems you describe. It is almost more common now for a Doctor to schedule a baby to be born and induce labor.... WHY?!... because you can have everything ready on your time to figure it out if problems arise. Is this wrong? I don’t think so... its called technology and knowledge... you are using it right now. With out it your snake would die in captivity anyhow.

I think if a sanke is too weak to get out on its own, its no good anyway. Yea we want snakes, thats why people breed, But when you cut an egg to help a snake that can't do it on it's own your just putting out weak snakes. Who knows, it could hurt us all in the long run. I would think if the snake is to weak to do it, there must be a reason.

Just an thought

I use a $15 used incubator .if I didn't have it .I would let the female keep the eggs herself if I had to......

I use a $25 ceramic heater from K-Mart to heat the whole room..

.......and an $8 fan from the Dollar store....

not much technology in that stuff.......

fruit frlies for darts are wingless and flightless......they can't fly and breed in some places throughout the room......they will interbreed and then gain wings that work if wild flies get into the home.......guess they would be just het for wingless /flightless then).....

they make humans have their babies under controlled dates when the time is right.as in almost or at 9 months......as in cutting the eggs at day 60 and not day 52.......and a baby human at 8 mnths of age may live but it sure is small and weak and costs us insurance payers a whole lot more money......then if women woul just go behind a bush and drop the kid into their hands like wild aborigional women did........

anyways......

tell you all what....cut the eggs at day 1 and wrap it halfway in plastic wrap and you can watch the whole process ?.......(it would almost usually work).......

I just don't condone new people cutting eggs if they don't know when and how.....
