How many times to feed?

icemom Aug 19, 2005 09:57 AM

Hi all. I have 6 month old 12,5 inches male dragon. He used to eat veggis but a few days that I had him he's more into crix. He would also eat a couple of superworms. So far he skillfully picks the worms out of his veggie salad as I'm trying to coax him into eating some of it too. Then I'm offering crix and he eats about 15 of medium size-3/4 ". My questions are:
- is one feedind in the morning enough given that I leave the salad in the tank?
- what is a good combo bulb for the heat and UVB/UVA in one fixture?

Thanks, Irina

Oops, forgot two more Q.:
-since he's not eating much of his greens, I tried to feed to crikets some romain hearts lettuce plus gut load. They seem to love it .Is that OK? What other greens/fruit/veggies I can give to them, if any?
PS. On most part they left much of the grapes behing while lettuce is being cleared up.
-how do I feed superworms? In the pet store I bought them from they told me to keep it in the plastic conteiner at room temp. I don't have any substrate, what can I use? Shouldn't I feed them something

Feed crickets once a day with salad available all day long (replace in the afternoon as salads tend to dry out due to the heat lamps after a few hours). Crickets can be fed the same greens and fruits your dragon eats as well as the gutload. Fishfood can also be offered as well. Superworms can be fed any dry grain (ie rolled oaks, bran, wheat bran, etc).

Just thought I should add, be carefully when giving veggies to your crickets. If they dont eat it all, remove it from their container so it doesnt mold. Like the previous reply said, veggies will dry out under your heat lamps. I've often thrown dried veggies into the cricket tub, they'll eat that too. I mainly use oatmeal to feed the crickets.
