trying mealworms

herpsRkool Aug 19, 2005 11:04 AM

I bought mealworms for my leo. I usually feed him 10 crickets every other day. Can I feed him 10 mealworms every other day or should I keep a bowl full of mealworms all the time?

Also how do you gut load mealworms? What foods do u feed them? Right now im just keeping them in a container in the refrigerator but I want to give him nutritious food.

Thanks

i use a cricket food as their bedding which they eat. i personally give about ten mealworms a night, sometimes he'll eat all of the mealworms sometimes he'll only eat a few, it depends on if he's hungry or not. i dont feed every other day because my leo will sit at his feeding dish untill i put something in it, and he definatly isnt overweight, so i wouldn't worry about that. i got the cricket mix recipe from goldengate geckos site i believe, its kind of expensive but it lasts forever and seems to be working just fine, the only change i made to it was adding tropical fish food instead of two types of see weeds that you can only get in pill form, or at least i could only find it in capsules for forty bucks a bottle. good luck

I don't really count out mealworms, i just pull about 13 or so and give it to them.
