What kind of basilisk? Males have much larger crests in some species; I'll admit that my basilisk knowledge isn't great either. Basic lizard anatomy still applies and you did good checking for a bulge and poors. Male features may be less apparent in some species however, and the animals in question may also be a little immature for sexing... hard to say without seeing the animal.

All in all, I believe you'll find a better answer if you search for a basilisk forum or subforum elsewhere on kingsnake

Some forums are "friendlier" than others. Other times it just depends on how you introduce yourself. I'm sure some of your questions have been asked many times, so perhaps scroll down and look for similiar posts.

Also look on the kingsnake main page for different basilisk breeders/suppliers. They may be able to give you more personal attention. Different herp clubs will also have contacts for basilisk breeders, and many have links to this site as well.

For my own sake, I think I"ll get aquinted with the basilik's more myself, so I can be a better help in the future
